Recipe: Pound Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing it to a wire rack to cool completely.
