Recipe: Pupusas

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of masa harina

  • 1/4 cup of chopped cilantro

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the masa harina, warm water, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
  2. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball.
  3. Flatten each ball into a thin circle. Place a spoonful of cheese, beans, onions, and cilantro in the center of each circle.
  4. Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the pupusas and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
  6. Serve hot with your favorite toppings, such as salsa, sour cream, and guacamole.
