Caprese Salad

Caprese salad is a classic Italian dish that is often served as an appetizer or side dish. The salad is named after the island of Capri, where it is said to have originated.

Caprese salad is a very simple dish to make. Fresh ingredients come together to create a light salad that is perfect for any occasion. 

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of ripe tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 ball of fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 10 fresh basil leaves
  • Extra-virgin olive oil
  • Balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions:

  1. Arrange the tomato slices on a serving platter.
  2. Top with the mozzarella slices.
  3. Arrange the basil leaves over the cheese.
  4. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve

Tips:

  • Use the freshest ingredients possible for the best flavor.
  • If you don’t have fresh basil, you can substitute dried basil.
  • You can also add other ingredients to your caprese salad, such as cucumbers, onions, or avocados.
  • Caprese salad is best served immediately, but it can also be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
