Predeparture: Becoming a Reality

It’s finally happening! After months of planning and preparation, you’re about to embark on your short-term study abroad adventure. You’re probably feeling a mix of excitement, nerves, and maybe even a little bit of fear. But don’t worry, you’re not alone. Everyone feels that way before they go abroad. 

The best way to deal with these feelings is to focus on the positives. Think about all the amazing things you’re going to experience and learn. You’re going to meet new people, see new places, and try new things. It’s going to be an incredible experience that you’ll never forget. 

Of course, there are also a few practical things you need to do before you go. Here are some tips to help you prepare for your predeparture: 

  • Make sure you have all the necessary paperwork, such as your passport and visa. 
  • Pack your bags and make sure you have everything you need. 
  • Exchange some money for the local currency. 
  • Get travel insurance. 
  • Book your flights and accommodation. 

Once you’ve done all of that, it’s time to relax and enjoy the countdown to your departure! 

  • Read travel blogs and books about your destination. 
  • Watch movies and TV shows set in your destination. 
  • Listen to music from your destination. 
  • Talk to other people who have been to your destination. 
  • Start learning the local language. 

The more you prepare, the more confident you’ll feel when you arrive in your new country. So, take some time to relax and enjoy the anticipation of your upcoming adventure.
