French crepes are a delicious and versatile food that can be enjoyed as a sweet or savory dish.

Although they may seem intimidating to make at first, they are actually quite easy to prepare, and with a few simple ingredients, you can create a delicious meal in no time. In this blog, we will show you how to make French crepes with just a few ingredients, so you can enjoy this classic dish without breaking the bank.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt until well combined.
  2. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and water until well combined.
  3. Slowly add the egg mixture to the flour mixture, whisking constantly until a smooth batter is formed.
  4. Add the melted butter to the batter and whisk until well combined.
  5. Cover the batter with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow it to rest.
  6. After the batter has rested, heat a non-stick skillet or crepe pan over medium-high heat.
  7. Once the skillet is hot, pour a small amount of the batter into the skillet, swirling the pan to spread the batter evenly.
  8. Cook the crepe for about 1-2 minutes, until the edges begin to brown and the surface of the crepe looks set.
  9. Using a spatula, flip the crepe and cook for an additional 30 seconds to 1 minute on the other side.
  10. Repeat this process with the remaining batter, stacking the cooked crepes on a plate until all of the batter has been used.
  11. Serve the crepes with your favorite sweet or savory fillings, such as Nutella, jam, fresh fruit, cheese, ham, or vegetables.

Tips and Tricks:

  • Be sure to whisk the batter thoroughly to avoid lumps.
  • Letting the batter rest in the refrigerator allows the gluten to relax and will help prevent the crepes from tearing.
  • Adjust the heat of your skillet as needed to prevent the crepes from burning or sticking.
  • Use a small ladle or measuring cup to pour the batter into the skillet for more consistent crepes.
  • Experiment with different fillings to find your favorite flavor combinations.

In conclusion, French crepes are a delicious and easy-to-make dish that can be enjoyed any time of day. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a classic French dish in the comfort of your own home. So why not give it a try? Bon appétit!
