Phillip Proctor

My name is Phillip Proctor and I go to Louisiana State University. I chose the Summer Europe 2018 Seminar because of all the companies and tourist attractions we would get to see. My current major is sports administration and this experience will help out in the future. This is the longest amount of time I have ever been away from the United States.

What did you learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?

I learned that the whole continent of Europe is a totally different world than America. The cultures that they live in is completely different than what I am used to. I especially enjoyed listening to the people talk because I liked listening to their native accents since I’m used to people with a southern accent. This trip was definitely worthwhile because it wasn’t going to class and doing work, we actually got to tour different companies and explore the cities.

What company did you enjoy learning from the most and why?

I enjoyed going to the Callier chocolate plant the most. I was assigned to give a brief presentation before we went there, so I was excited to actually see the plant. We also got to taste a lot of chocolate which was really good.

What was it like meeting and traveling with a group of people you didn’t know beforehand?

I was a little nervous at first traveling with a group of people I had never met, but after three days, I enjoyed being with all of them. It was a lot of fun being with all of them, and I made sure I didn’t hang out with the same people. For example, I would sit with a group at a company visit, then go out to eat with different people, then see an attraction with other people.
