My name is Isabella Hincapie and I am a sophomore at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS. I am currently a business major with a Spanish minor, and I attended the Winter Southeast Asia International Business seminar. This seminar was amazing, and I learned so many things about the business world in Thailand, Vietnam, and Asia as a whole.

Do you intend on interning/working abroad in the future – if so, what did you learn from your seminar that will help you work/live abroad?
In fact, this trip actually helped me land an internship where I will be living in Thailand for 3 months over the summer. By going on the IBS trip, I learned so many useful tips about business and how the cultures and customs are very different over there, even in the business world. This knowledge then carried over to my interview with a Thai company. They were also very impressed by the fact that I had so much experience visiting businesses in Thailand! I intend on living in Thailand for the summer, and after I graduate college, I know I definitely want to move to another country, so this trip really prepared me.
If you had 60 seconds to convince a friend to attend an IBS program, what would you say?
If I had 60 seconds to convince a friend to go on an IBS trip, I would ask them if they have ever thought about studying, working, or living abroad. If they said yes, I would go on to talk about how International Business Seminars is an amazing experience for that because you get to go abroad and visit real companies and speak with real leaders. This could really help them get their foot in the door if they ever wanted to live or work abroad.
What was it like meeting and traveling with a group of people you didn’t know beforehand?
Before I went on the trip, I did not know a single person. I was so nervous! I had not talked to anyone beforehand and I thought I was going to be the only one who felt alone. However, this was not the case. Almost everyone going did not know anyone else, so we were not alone! Everyone wants to make friends, and IBS assigns you a roommate, so you do not have to worry about choosing. You also all are traveling to a new place together so you bond very easily because you all have that in common. I ended up loving the people that I traveled with and I even still talk to a few of them!
