Garrett DeBruler
Hello, my name is Garrett DeBruler and I am a senior at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. I am majoring in global studies and international business. I attended the Summer Europe 2018 Seminar. I chose IBS because it wasn’t a normal 3-4-month study abroad program, where you are only in one location. With IBS you get a structured program where you get to travel all across Europe and learn from business professionals. Some advice I would give to future IBS students would be to do research before visiting each company. That way, you can generate questions easier and have a better feel for the company before your visit.

Hear more directly from Garrett:

Why did you choose your IBS vs. any other study abroad program?

I chose IBS because it wasn’t a usual study abroad program, where you stay in one city. With IBS you travel all around Europe while gaining knowledge from some amazing companies all across Europe. It is structured well enough where you can have free time for what you want to do and also time to tour businesses.

Do you intend on interning/working abroad in the future – if so, what did you learn from your seminar that will help you work/live abroad?

I do intend on working abroad and this seminar helped me be more prepared for it. It showed me what is out there and how business works overseas. I was able to learn from some of the best business professionals in Europe and get a taste for their day to day lifestyles.

What was it like meeting and traveling with a group of people you didn’t know beforehand?

Meeting and traveling with new people was a great experience. I was able to make some great friends from all over the country. At first, I only talked to a few students I felt comfortable with because we shared similar backgrounds/interests, but as we traveled more often I became friends with many others.
