Eliette Rutledge
Hello, my name is Eliette Rutledge I am a senior at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. I will graduate in May 2020 with a major in international business and a minor in geology. I love traveling and plan to do more after I graduate. I attended the summer Europe 2019 seminar and had a wonderful time.

If you had 60 seconds to convince a friend to attend an IBS program, what would you say?

Traveling while in college connects everything you learn in business classes to the real world, and makes you appreciate the difference of cultures, which is essential to business success. You also make great friends with similar interests. It is an experience of a lifetime.

What did you learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?

This experience gave me so many new insights into real-world business operations and really helped me connect what I have been thought in classes to an actual business setting. You can study and read about something but experiencing it firsthand provides a deeper understanding that I think is essential. It was worthwhile, and I would do it again.

Do you intend on interning/working abroad in the future – if so, what did you learn from your seminar that will help you work/live abroad?

After I graduate, I am planning on moving to the South Pacific for an international work opportunity. The seminar gave me a great look at how large and small-scale business carry out operations and manage their companies this information will be a big help with my upcoming work. I believe this seminar has given me more confidence to work internationally.
