Brooke Brignac
My name is Brooke Brignac and I’m a Human Resource Management major at Louisiana State University. I attended the Summer Europe 2018 Seminar, and I could not have imagined going to Europe through any other program. They are very accommodating to all types of situations, whether you want to use this seminar for credit or not, and even if you’re not a business major. This program really gives you the freedom to immerse yourself in the culture as much as you’d like, through all the free time you have to explore the cities. My personal favorite city we visited was Lausanne, Switzerland. The views were absolutely breathtaking, along with the food and sights we were able to see.

Being able to travel to multiple cities and countries, what travel advice do you have for future students?

My best advice for students going abroad would be to go with the flow because not everything is going to go the way you are planning it. You don’t need to stress out over anything on this trip, because of the amount of free time you have in every location. Also, be aware of cultural differences in every different city you go to and try as hard as you can to immerse yourself in it.

What company did you enjoy learning from the most and why?

My favorite company we got to visit was Redoro, the olive oil company in Italy. The company was family run, and everyone that we met was simply amazing. The family all treated us as their own, by starting off with making every single person in our group an espresso with breakfast cookies. They work so hard and have a wide variety of products to offer. They stick to their roots but are innovating and growing constantly.

What was it like meeting and traveling with a group of people you didn’t know beforehand?

Going into this trip, I knew absolutely no one. I met some of my group at the airport on the way there and when we landed in London and made our way to the hotel, we all started to try and get to know each other. These are now some of my closest friends that I know will be in my life for a long time. We all did almost everything together. Not knowing anyone going into the trip is another thing that just pushes you out of your comfort zone and only adds to the experiences you will gain from the trip.
