What to Expect from the IBS Program

Each of the open seminars is designed for about 50 students and three faculty members.  Typically the three faculty members teach at different universities and the students might be enrolled at as many as eight or ten different universities.

The seminars provide insight into the cultural, social, and political environments of each country visited. We feel this is a unique way for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in international business practices while experiencing the excitement of traveling outside the United States.

The types of presentations provided by our foreign hosts will vary from company to company. Almost all presentations will be conducted by management personnel.

The sessions may include lectures, panel discussions, plant tours, or some combination of these elements. Students will usually be able to participate in a question and answer session as part of each visit.

Seminars will usually be held on the weekdays in the mornings and in the afternoons. The sessions will usually run from two to four hours in length, depending upon the presentation the company has scheduled. The visit will be longer if a tour of the facilities is included. Some of the companies provide lunch with members of their management.
